  • She's ba-ack!

I know how amazing this is, but yes, I'm writing; yes, I'm still alive. I've just been busy...

Actually, I'm still buzzing from the horrible business trip I just returned from and can't sleep, hence writing at 5:45 am. After 2 hours of sleep, I got in a car to go to the Philly airport at 6 am, flew to Chicago, and proceeded to change gates 4 times and was delayed 4 hours--and the flight I wound up taking to Fort Wane only had 10 people on it, not including our 1 flight attendant and the morons flying the plane (I say morons because I don't think we stopped tilting from side to side the entire flight).

Hence, I finally got home at 4:30 and crashed. I woke up to eat, then crashed again and just woke up at about 4:30, but now I'm totally off for my day. I've decided I'm not going in today; I got approval at the conference from my editor's boss; none of us are going in today because we're all fried.

Of course, that doesn't mean I won't be working at home--I have a million deadlines and I'm leaving again for a trade show in Chicago (yes, the city where I was just stuck trying to fly home and, get this, we're renting a van to drive to Chicago for this trip) on Thursday, staying that night, and then coming home after the show floor closes Friday night, which will put me in Decatur at somewhere around, oh, 1 or 2 am. From there, I'll get to drive the 30-45 minutes home before I crash again.

It's a good thing I love my job...

  • wondering...

An era is coming to an end and I feel with it, so is my relationship with my dad. We've fought so hard every night that I'm losing my voice and I just keep thinking that on Thursday, I'm forever moving out of his house and these are the memories I'm taking with me. It's ripping my mom in two, which I hate, but I' don't know what to do. I know it's not me, that it's him, but I still can't help thinking it's me, you know?

It scares me so much to do this, too, because I have this irrational fear that he's going to die and my last words to him are going to be these terrible things. With him being so sick for so long and so volitile, it just worries me.

  • I will have a new address soon! I'm moving into an apartment in the next 2 weeks - despite the fact I have not yet heard back from the magazine. I know it sounds a little hasty, but we discovered I can do it financially (technically, to get everything I want I'm short $28 a month, but if I cut out cable - $33/month - or just get internet through cable, I'll be about even). Things will be tight, but I'm so ready to move out. I'll know where all my stuff is, I'll have room for all of it, and I'll finally be on my own. Finally!
